Which edition suits your zoo plans?

Choose Deluxe if its named additional animals are species you want to build around, or if the exclusive signage appeals to you. Use that roster as your buying checklist. Animals featured elsewhere in trailers or spotlights should not automatically be treated as Deluxe additions.

The Deluxe Upgrade Pack is also listed separately on Xbox and requires the base game. If you already own the game there, compare the upgrade listing with the complete Deluxe bundle before purchasing. Check which product is in your basket so your purchase matches what you need.

The announcement gives suggested retail prices of £39.99/$49.99/€49.99 for Standard and £54.99/$64.99/€64.99 for Deluxe. Use the price shown by your chosen store when making the final decision. Weigh the extra animals and signs against the habitats you actually want to create.

Check animal needs before designing habitats

Each animal has its own welfare requirements, including food and water, enough space, suitable terrain and plants, and social and enrichment needs. Check those requirements for your chosen species before committing to a finished layout. Leave room to adjust the habitat as you learn what its residents need.

For aquatic housing, check water compatibility before planning a mixed collection. The game includes marine, freshwater and brackish species, and not all aquatic animals can be mixed. Appropriate filtration matters, so check the intended residents together rather than choosing a tank solely for its appearance.

For an aviary, check the bird's needs and whether your proposed guest access is suitable. Aviaries use barriers, support poles and mesh covers, while walkthrough access depends on safety. Some birds do not take kindly to visitors, so plan the viewing route around the animal rather than assuming every aviary can be a walkthrough.

Cohabitation can save space, and some animals need it to thrive. Check species compatibility before designing a shared habitat; the Deluxe roster alone does not tell you which residents belong together. Species research is also required before an animal can achieve Thriving status.

06

What you can build with the included base game

The base game covers zoo construction and management, fully aquatic and flying animals, and conservation through customisable Wildlife Reserves. Career, Franchise and Sandbox provide different ways to develop your zoos. Choose your edition around the additional species you want, then choose a mode around how you enjoy playing.

Ready-to-place blueprints and piece-by-piece construction tools support both quick placement and custom designs. The Frontier Workshop also lets you download player-created blueprints and creations across platforms. Consider how much of your zoo you want to design yourself before planning an ambitious collection of habitats.

07

PC compatibility checks before buying

On Steam, check your PC against the game's requirements before choosing an edition. Minimum requirements include Windows 10 or 11, an Intel i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12 and 40 GB of available storage. An SSD is recommended at minimum and required for the recommended specification.

Minimum graphics options are NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with 6GB VRAM, AMD Radeon RX 5600XT with 6GB VRAM, or Intel Arc A750 with 8GB VRAM. Compare the full graphics requirement with your hardware rather than checking memory alone. The listing also warns that ongoing Windows 10 compatibility cannot be guaranteed.
